I really enjoy this book, but it's definitely more of a guide to coloring birds than drawing them. If you're a beginner at sketching/drawing, this will just be really frustrating, like those how-to guides that are like : first, draw a circle and a triangle, next, add small details, and now you have the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel!If you're a novice like me, though, you should have fun. I haven't had art classes since high school, so while my drawing is fair-to-middling, I don't know color theory or whatever artists need to know in order to make things appear to have depth when colored (yellow highlights! who knew?!). This book has all that stuff, which has been helpful to me, even outside the pictures within.Short version: If you can draw okish but want guidance on colored pencil work, knock yourself out, it's a ton of fun. If you're a beginner, start a little lower.
This book has a duel purpose. It serves as both a field identification guide for some common song birds and a how to draw the birds using color pencils. The book includes a very good description of basic techniques used for color pencils.
Wonderful book. Has become my go-to how-to. Haha. Sample drawing lines a bit faint for me. The loose-leaf binding is great.
I purchased this product in thinking that it would show me how to draw birds. When I received it I realized that it didn't say anything on drawing, it said to photocopy that page or trace it and then color. It was just showing how to color them, and I was disappointed.
Really nice book with photos of the birds and their map of their habitat. I sketch of the bird is there to follow. Colorful. Book as advertised and received quickly.

It wasn't quite as technical as I had hoped, but I still enjoyed it.
It's a good reference book for drawing. It has all the information about birds including colors. Birds pictures are small in scale.
