I love this cookbook. It might not be for everyone but if you grew up in the 60s, you will love these nostalgic recipes from your childhood. The recipes are clear and straight forward. Probably not for someone who wants super healthy recipes - as that wasn't a thing in the 60s. But I am thrilled with being able to recreate the recipes that my mother made for our family. Very happy with this purchase.
I collect a lot of cookbooks. Lately, I've been into nostalgia, specifically the foods of homecooks (the moms!) in mid-1950s to the mid-1960s. If I could have stopped at just one retro-recipe book for that time period, this is it! Just SO many specific recipes I was looking for, and all amazingly in this one volume. I'm thrilled. The author really nailed the favorite, much-beloved/remembered recipes of the era.
I was looking for an era cookbook, and this one is it. There's not alot of ingredients that are hard to find, glad for that. I'm happy there's pics in book, so one has an idea of how recipes should look. I'm happy w this book, because the last cookbook, I purchased on Amazon was a failure. I took it to work to be adopted. Would recommend.
As far as I am concerned the best recipes to appear in the US were developed in the late 40's, 50's, and 60's. People invited each other to their homes and actually got to know each other. I want to put some of that into my life.
Beautiful pictures and I like how the author gave history information on each recipe. I would have liked to have seen a recipe for homemade pie crust and a recipe for homemade rolled or dropped biscuits, but there was none. Since these items were neccesary for a few recipes. But overall I like the book and I am looking forward to making something soon.

I got this as a gift but looked through it before I gave it. Wonderful recipes. Old fashioned, many included that I hadn’t thought of in years. Easy to read and follow directions. Simple and harder more advanced recipes included.
