About the Author
Robert H. Rimmer (1917-2001) was the author of more than a dozen novels, the most famous being The Harrad Experiment (1966). Most of Rimmer's work explored and advocated for experimental sexual arrangements and open-ended relationships. Rimmer was born in Boston and educated at Bates College.

It was an interesting read about the ins and outs of the porn industry. What I found the most interesting was Butler's opinions on the porn stars of his era, praise for some, not very flattering for others, to downright derision for a couple. He also talks about his heavy drug use, cocaine in particular, and his insecurities. On one hand, he consistently criticizes the porn industry, but on the other cannot walk away from it even after promising his wife he was through with it. The book is dated as the industry is far, far different than it was in the 70's, 80's, and very early 90's, especially with the advent of AIDS. He condescendingly describes today's porn as a series of loops with sound. According to Butler, in a nutshell: It's better to watch porn than to perform in it.
It is a fairly lengthy book(over 300 pages) and you get some decent insight from 80's adult star Jerry Butler regarding his female co-stars and the adult film industry in general back then. Some of the things he reveals were pretty interesting(for those who are aware of the adult actors from back then) but on the other hand from my vantage point some his opinions seemed rather pedestrian and typical(which made it annoying to read in those parts). A good book to pick up if you can find it at a bargain price(preferably under ten bucks) and are interested in knowing more about classic adult stars.
An OK book overall.
This book was a quick read...Jerry, or Paul, is candid about his feelings about his life and insecurities. We as people posses these....he recognizes he possibly has more of these issues than those that are not in porn and gives them as potential reasons for being in the business. But he also notes he likes to get tail and is a sexually driven person. That's fine. There are some funny tales about some of the actresses, as well as insights on how the business side of pornography works. This was worth the read. Jerry speaks from the heart and doesn't side-step with his opinions about the folks he's encountered.
pretty good book written by a porn guy..its dated now considering how much the biz has changed since his era but a fun read
An interesting insight if the world of porn and its players are interesting to you. It doesn't cost much so worth a read.
Good book to read and explains the porn life fairly well. It does have a lot of typos here and there and isn't the best overall written. But I still think it's worth getting to read.
